Architecture:
A Sculptor's Perspective
Lecture
with John Mors
Thursday,
June 14
6:45 p.m.
|
Trained
as an architect, Australian John Mors produces sculpture based on the
ethnic architecture he encountered on his many travels. His works are
not, however, strict representations of architectural forms, but rather
powerful works of art in their own right. Mors, whose sculpture is on
view in the Octagon garden through June 30, will present a slide-illustrated
lecture exploring the process of sculpture, particularly the conflict
between sculpture as strict representation versus sculpture as form
only. He will discuss several of his works in detail, from the initial
concept to the process of creation to the final piece. Following the
lecture, join us in the garden for a light reception and viewing of
the exhibition.
