Subject
Manum Island, a small island situated off the coast of New Guinea,
is one of a group of islands that receives fresh water form the
Sepik river as it flows to the Bismark Sea.
Object
The motif for the sculpture is the form of housing found on Manum
Island, which is different from that the Sepik River region. As
a result, the emphasis for this sculpture is the roof which sits
low to the ground.
